Who we are

Compare Roofers is an introduction service and a trading name of Get Local Jobs Ltd, 75 Upper High Street, Epsom, Surrey, KT17 4RA. We are the data controller for the information described here and are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under reference ZB643716.

What we collect, and why

If you use our comparison quiz, we collect:

• Your project details — postcode, job type, roof type, property type, whether you own, are buying or rent the property, how soon you need the work, and how ready you are to go ahead. We use these to match you with suitable roofers and to show them what the job involves.
• Your contact details — first name, last name (optional), email address and phone number, so your matched roofers can contact you.
• Verification data — if we text you a code to confirm your number, we record that your number was verified and when. This protects roofers from false enquiries and protects you from having your number used by someone else.
• Technical data — your browser type and how you arrived at the site (for example, from a search advert). We use this to understand which adverts work and to detect fraudulent or duplicate enquiries.
• Activity on the site — for example when your matches were shown or a survey was booked, so we can operate and improve the service and resolve any dispute about an enquiry.

Our lawful basis is your consent for sharing your details with roofers, and our legitimate interests in operating a fraud-resistant marketplace for the security and analytics data described above.

Who we share it with

With your explicit consent, we share your name, contact details and project answers with up to 3 matched local roofing contractors so they can contact you about your project. A roofer only receives your contact details once they take on your enquiry; before that they see only your first name, the job type, your postcode area and your answers.

We never sell your details to lead lists and we never share them with anyone other than your matched roofers and the service providers below.

We use these providers to run the service: Supabase (database and accounts, hosted in the EU), Cloudflare (website hosting), and providers who send our emails and text messages. They process data on our instructions only.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for as long as needed to run the service and handle any dispute about an enquiry, and no longer than 24 months after your enquiry, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Records we must keep for accounting or legal reasons are kept for as long as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict use of your data, object to processing, or withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect introductions already made. Contact us and we will respond within one month, as required under UK GDPR.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies and similar technology

We do not use third-party advertising or analytics tags. We store a small amount of information in your browser to remember your answers, any roofers you save, and your cookie choice. With your permission we also record which advert or search brought you here, so we can measure our advertising. You can change your choice at any time.
